If you’ve not kept up to date with the latest incarnation of the ever evolving Japanese psychedelic rock juggernauts (Come on who hasn’t?), then you may not have noticed they’re docking their cosmic space ship in Brighton for a scorching set at The Frog Bar.
Founded in 1995 by guitar virtuoso/violinist/composer/speed freak Kawabata Makoto, the Acid Mothers Temple…(AMTATMPUFO??!!) have been through multiple line-up changes, at least three name changes, and probably dozens of broken guitars before ripping it up and putting it back together again using walls of distortion, delay pedals and huge heads of hair. Listening to the Acid Mothers Temple is like listening to your granddad tell stories about how he knew Winston Churchill – it’s confusing, often doesn’t make any sense, and usually involves a kick-ass ten minute guitar jam…
This gig also has the intense visual freak outs of the Innerstrings Lightshow. A perfect accompaniment to the main course. Make mine a double.
7pm, October 6, Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar, £10adv
