Ugh, I liked! So clear and positively.
Have a nice day
Kate you’re such a drum and bass whore.
This ngiht fell on its face, such a shame as its usually very good. Kind of dented my feelings towards DnB. maybe its time to move onto the next big thing

Nice writing style. Looking forward to reading more from you.
i really feel this zachary colbert (previously bollard) should write more articles as he is a very talented young man. He’s currently ghost writing my autobiography but still feel he has a little too much free time on his hands….send him to more shows i say!
Is this right about Public Enemy?
Can’t see anything about it anywhere else!
Good work! Thank you very much! I always wanted to write in my blog something like that. Can I take part of your post to my blog? Of course, I will add backlink?
I just love your weblog! Very nice post! Still you can do many things to improve it.
Too right, saw the band at the Druids on Saturday and it blew my socks off. The noise was big, and the room was tiny…….. My ears are still ringing, on Wednesday the following week…. I really rate this band. Well done
What a bunch of small little punk spjuckers.
they play good though
What a totally fantastic idea! I’m totally gonna book a slot! And the whole point of this comment is totally for self promotion!

We’re also playing – The Sea Will Decide… I don’t think you guys like us very much, is it because we have beards and are kinda old looking? 😉

Poetically just posting this expose to show that I seize your blog daily.
Really nice posts. I will be checking back here regularly.
I LOVE THIS PICTURE….. I am a huge bug fan… take some pics while you are down on madeira drive on Oct 3
Hey everybody – go check these guys out – I saw them earlier in the year and I can tell you that they’re one of the freshest British Hip Hop acts I’ve seen in ages.
Superb beats and a wicked conscious flow. Guitarist is cute too . .
Big Up to Trenton & Free Radical & the Love Music Hate Racism movement
I saw Bad for Lazarus for the first time on 24th October at the Wychwood Hobgoblin in Brighton. I travel around Britain as part of my day job and am always on the lookout for bands in the Metal spectrum that are doing something different, like Nottingham’s NG26 or Glasgow’s Griever, but I have NEVER been as impressed by a band so daring in pushing boundaries since the Clash’s second album first came out (yes, I am in my fifties). I intended to see them yesterday at The Gaff but circumstances intervened. It is hard to believe that they are second on the bill to a fairly efficient but otherwise unremarkable thrash metal band like Chickenhawk, who are great fun but one amongst many.
Bad for Lazarus have enormous potential. If I was still anywhere close to “the business” I’d be ringing contacts like hell, but since my last contacts are all in the residual Goth market…………
In a way, one thing that impressed was the sheer confidence, they played like a band that already knew they had made it, but it was the breadth of influences that really astonished me. I can’t remember the last band in any of the Metal sub-genres that dared break into a reggae/rock steady rhythm part way through a track, but BFL (get used to the initials, I suspect they’ll be second nature in 18 months) don’t just get away with it, it fitted perfectly (hence, I suspect, my reference to The Clash).
This is clearly a band that cares about what they want to do, not what they are expected to do, and since I know they have a couple more dates this week GO TO SEE THEM BEFORE IT COSTS YOU £30 OR MORE!
And no, I have no financial or other connection to this band. I wish. If they floatewd themselves on the market I’d get myself a stockbroker and buy shares!
Nice review. My hips wouldn’t stop gyrating even once I’d left…
Just meant to stick my head in to have a look – ended up staying all night! Sick tunes!! I certainly won’t miss the next one.
Love the photos!
I saw a solo set in NY. He is just brilliant.
I’ve no qualms with advertising his greatness to anyone who expresses a slight interest.
Nice review, too.
i was at this gig and thought he was amazing, and beautiful!!
very good review im so impressed x
I was so sorry to miss this gig….can’t wait til Feb.when Nick and I will come together.
Brilliant review too…..
Well done Johnny. E xx
This exhibition is on all day tomorrow but finishes tomorrow! So get down there, it is worth it. Some truly inspiring stuff, showing the latest work from one of the top Fashion/textiles courses in the UK.
Every individuals work is completely unique, innovative, and beautiful. An early fashion and design fix before next year!
And its free!!!
I thought Videodrome were superb. Fresh sounding electro and dropping some intricate club beats. Brilliant!
Yo – Leon
I second that emotion !
Looks like one of the members has a Thursday tattoo. Props
I am so fed up that I missed this, but great review and brilliant pictures. I can feel the funky sweatyness from here. Maybe I will have to make the Trek to Brighton for The Concorde2 on Friday 18th
Ha Ha! This looks hilarious! So gutted i missed it. Next time Har Mar, NEXT TIME!
Pendulum are amazing live, there’s a competition to win tickets for their Matter show here http://bit.ly/55gYKB
Nice post Rose – just to say (don’t know if you missed them) that O Emperor – an Irish 5(?)-piece who played before Alessi’s Arc were great too.
It was a Great gig. Yes they use a lot of samples but what’s wrong with that? These New Puritans aren’t your average “indie rock” guitar band! I think they replicated the new album very well live. George is a fantastic drummer. Amazing band, amazing new album & a very good gig. True visionaries. I wish them all the best.
not as busy but better for it i think. james robinsons work really stood out!
Brilliant review! Niall writes beautifully I almost felt I was there. I loved the bit ‘dreamy like golden beaches’ aaah lovely!
I enjoyed the first band – they were the only ones that seemed to show any originality!
Nicely explained Simon.
We love The Bays!
are there any photos of the support band Atlases from this show?
with support from Brighton band The Woo!worths
I’m hoping you can help me or point me in the direction of who can. I came to the Brighton Tattoo Convention and got a great tattoo but have LOST the business card of the tattooist (who I need to contact). Do you know where I can get a list of all the tattooists who attended? The tattooist and his wife were Polish and had their shop in Islington, North London. She was about 6′, blonde and wearing a red plastic nurse’s uniform and he had spiked hair! Ring any bells?
Really, really hope you can help!
I think Tiffany and her band were awesome. I dont think crowd interaction was as bad as you made out. D
You’ve made The Hope look gigantic!
I am waiting for this unforgettable festival…
Really great and well written article, the writer’s passion for the band really comes across. WELL DONE AMBER!
Very will written. Fantastic job!!
Gutted ,I was supposed to see TB at Shepherds Bush the day before but had to miss it through no fault of my own! Have had to watch clips from all the shows on YouTube – how long will I have to wait to get the opportunity again I ask myself?! Such great voices and Olly is just the sexiest 😉
This man killed the set. He was soo much better than i expected….And I expected alot!!! He made the foundations shake, even when he fucked up the crowd still loved it. Cant wait too see what comes from this man next!!!
Nice review, but I was there, and I’m pretty sure he said “beat up some ROCKERS”, not “rappers”, Brighton being the scene of the mods and rockers riots, and all.
Phil Elverum is just great!
LOL Misha xD <3
I’ve never noticed Katie Sutherland’s Mockney accent. Probably because her strong Glaswegian accent doesn’t let anything else through! Both her singing and talking voice scream out Scottish. More Amy MacDonald than Lily Allen or Kate Nash. Also, I’m not Scottish before anyone thinks I might just be sticking up for my own, lol.
Definite similarities between Amy MacDonald and her! But that’s just the vibe I got from her singing that it was from that genre, wasn’t necessarily an insult to her, just my own opinion
Do you think you might have meant Eliza Doolittle? She grew up in Soho and her parents basically keep theatreland going. She’s definately not ‘mockney’, she’s through and through cockney.
Plus, what an incredible photo of Steine. Congrats. x
I had Foxx Bandits for one of my gigs at 93 Feet East last april, they were amazing, i predict a great future for the band!
Thanks for the awesome review, we really appreciate it! If you ever want to check out some more shows or our new material, send us an email and we’ll sort it out for you.
(camp, pouting drummer of Foxx Bandits)
Watch the promo for the new single by Sound Of Guns ‘Architects’. The video was filmed in Southend on the longest pier in the world. It was directed by Seb Billings and the track is released on June 21 through Distiller Records.
How do i get one?
come to the hydrant and ask at the bar 🙂
My name is Ed and I am the guitarist in the support band Twice The Size who don’t seem to have been given any mention. Merc.
Its a shame the singer is such an old fool, the band really rock but he just lets em down every time. Retirement, he should seriously consider it.
exquisitely penned and left me feeling like I had missed out on a fierce gig – gutted – I need to get our more 🙂 – nice one Kat Bard Cole
ANIMAL WOULD SAY SO FUCKIN WOT,,AND WE SAY JUST COZ U JEALOUS & U AINT GOT THE BALLS 2 DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes i Cant wait. !! if the album is anything like the single ‘Your Revolution’ then its gonna be good.
I know of Matt Rose he is a really great singer !! i cant wait for this album….
I really love Adelaide’s Cape. He seems to be everywhere at the moment. Totally can’t wait to catch him live next month :-]
You have some interesting points here regarding the band, although, being someone who was at this gig (and also someone with said beer in their hand) I can assure you there were a lot more older generation people than I think you’re assuming. You’ve made some fair points, however, Parallel Worlds is a very old song – very, very old. It’s unfair to pick apart that song given it’s age and the fact the band were a lot younger when they wrote it. Their newer songs are a better reflection of what the band will be giving to their crowd in the future, and I think they show honest potential. I despise the term ’emo’, as it thrown away way too simply these days regarding bands that don’t deserve the label. Parallel Worlds is still a strong fan favourite, I assure you, but their more recent songs have come leaps and bounds.
can i enter in to this comp please …xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
and all your other fabby comps !!!!!!!
incredible unforgettable evening…what a woman!!
hope im lucky ….. “murder on the standon express” xx
have i entered ??
Thinks that Liz Chambers is a fabulous photographer! x
i love this great prize love to win it xxxxxx
What a fantasic prize!! I would like to win it very much. Keep up the good work XYZ mag.
Ooooh no!, Had a listen and its the anthem for middle aged divorcees or needy young women with emotional issues which im not on both scores.
Sandi Thom may be trying to sing the blues but sounding like this all she is going to attract is beer bellied balding/shaved headed grandads.
I thought Punk rocker was bad enough but this is just karaoke blues style for someone looking for a second chance.
Really cant wait!
OFFICIAL Afterparty at the below link! Come party with them afterwards!
This was such an awesome gig. Quite a pleasent suprise. Great pictures by the way!
I quite liked her Punk Rocker single but that was 4 years ago. She sounds like an old woman now and i dont know where you get “Blues with Attitude” from, It just sounds dated.
Why did she remix the track for this single?
The original album version was much better. It seems the influence/involvement of Joe Bonamassa in the life of Sandi means her music sounds more and more like outakes off Joes latest album on just about everything she puts out nowadays..
Should have left well alone and released the track as it was originally recorded.
Great band but I’ve gotta say, that cover is pretty terrible… just being honest.
This event has been rearranged for the 28th August 2010 at The Hope in Brighton
I live in Manaus Am Brazil and I’ve just known this band by a friend of mine. I really loved their songs because all of the lyrics, melody and voices are following my feelings. It bring me to tears and the same time happiness!
Nice review, I like that you interviewed other attendees!
oi you lot , stopmakingsence. blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this would be a really good support for us, as we all have been working hard on the EP and would be good to promote it there…… we all have been playing for 8 years so were tight and would not let you down.
Lulu and Krem of Kong are already existing members of Oceansize, so I don’t see a touring stint with Future of the Left to be a sign of the band’s demise. If it was a consideration I should think Kong be given priority seeing as they are the most exciting of the three with perhaps the most yet to achieve.
Can Gin Fix It? Yes it can!
Shambush! Featured in this photo!
Imagine this with percussions (me). We are Brighton based and ready to open your show!
Its interesting that despite some positive reviews for this single and the album it comes from that Sandi Thom still cant get herself back into the top 20, or even the top 100 come to that here in the UK. The fall-out from her dubious PR driven discovery is something that has had more impact on her reputation and credibility than anyone couldve imagined.
She has gone from million selling artist headlining the Accoustic stage at Glastonbury 2007 to a performer who gets a sunday mid-afternoon spot in a Bourbon bar at the same festival in 2010 and whos latest album didnt even make the top 100, and all this happened within the space of four years. A mighty fall from grace in anyones book i think.
The future looks like it will be a life of playing small venues to finance self released albums with very limited appeal until the re-release of the “PunkRocker” single sometime in the next few years.. It just goes to show that sometimes the publicity machine can get it totally wrong and when it does it can be devastating for the artist concerned
The artist is Stotker Tattoo, his name is Mirek and they will back next year 🙂
thanks to all that came, see ya soon!
This is terrible! They would not let me come to this festival! I had fearsome metal blades attached to my arms and legs and was going to slash at passers by!
We have 2 tickets to giveaway – To enter email your name, address, and telephone number with ‘Plants’ in the subject line to email@example.com. Closes on 17th September.
Wow, I’m jealous of you for getting to see that show. I’ve loved The Handsome Family for years now. Only discovered Daniel Knox several months back, but I’m totally smitten. I think he’s producing the classic songs of the future.
Check out the blog post I made about Daniel and see what you think: http://musicmissionary.wordpress.com/2010/09/10/daniel-knoxs-strange-beautiful-songs-could-be-future-american-standards/
i think lee endres is a great writer. bit drunk. love from austria xx
Wow these are great photos, I really wish I could see them live. they got chosen as Vevo lift’s emerging artist, so ive seen some live performances and they sound superb, you can watch them here.. http://www.vevo.com/lift
Nice photos. liked the Fusion and the Denim.
Hello, watched the Temper Trap at Brighton Great Escape at the Dome, I have seen the band before and really like them. I was very disappointed with them this time, sound was really bad and lead singer was missing his normal energy, still looking forward to the new album……
