In Review: Single – Charlotte Gainsbourg: “Heaven Can Wait”

Poetic and visual… a girly daydream. These are some of the thoughts that spring to mind when listening to Charlotte Gainsbourg’s new single ‘Heaven Can Wait.’

Taken from her third album ‘IRM’ she shells catchy guitar with a piano soaked rhythm. Like a distorted memory, she hums at the back of the ears, almost transparent.

Having teamed up with Beck (he mixed and produced the album, as well as featuring on the single) Charlotte seems to have progressed well, getting the likes of Nosaj Thing, Jackson and Grizzly Bear to remix the songs dreamy atmosphere.

The only thing that sticks in the back of my mind like a splinter, is the painfully apparent whoring of Beck, using him like a prostitute to market the single. His voice does nothing to the harmonious qualities of the song… so Beck fans beware!

“Heaven Can Wait” is out now.
