CD REVIEW: Estelle – Pretty Please.

CD REVIEW: Estelle – Pretty Please.

Release date 16/9/8

I don’t know about you but when I hear a new tune from any artist/band I always imagine where the song takes me, where I would picture myself listening to it.

Dance music puts me in a club, or muffled low bass before a passing car, the same with R’n’B and a drum’n’ bass tune.

Estelle’s “Pretty Please” is that tune you play on a summer’s day when you’re driving to the beach or getting ready to go out on a warm evening.

Produced by Jack Splash and co-written alongside Estelle herself, her cool, soft yet strong vocals bring a retro feel, with a nice Sam Cooke Mo-town vibe provided by the recognizable sound from Cee Lo of Gnarls Barkley.

It’s no American Boy but still a good sunny-day tune.

My rating: 5/10
