Sweeping Promises, the Kansas-based art-punk force, continue their impressive run with the new single “Accent” and a fiercely anticipated album, “You Say I Romanticize,” due for release on 14 August via Sub Pop. Built on relentless, insectoid rhythms and a punchy wall-of-sound production, “Accent” showcases the group’s knack for hypnotic melodies and a restless, kinetic energy. The track follows up on recent favourites “Cocoon” and “Shooting Shadows,” cementing the band’s reputation for riveting, direct post-punk with an unmistakable edge.
The album, written and refined over 18 months in a busy Kansas studio-home, captures the chaotic creativity of life on the move. Fronted by bassist/vocalist Lira Mondal and guitarist Caufield Schnug, with Spenser Gralla on drums, Sweeping Promises have crafted a collection that is both intimate and expansive, thriving on the duality of collaboration and independence.
With an extensive North American headline tour booked for autumn 2026, Sweeping Promises will bring their formidable live presence to cities across the US and Canada, with further dates to be announced soon. Fingers crossed for a Brighton show some time soon!
