Don’t miss Europe’s biggest beachfront cinema here in Brighton July 28-August 28! A huge HD quality screen will play more than 90 awesome films, including “La La Land”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Moana”, “Jaws”, “T2 (Trainspotting)”, “Logan”, and “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”…
A Brighton favourite summer event, Big Beach Screen Events (BBSE) is back with its 6th annual hosting of Europe’s largest outdoor cinema, right here on Brighton beach – and with this year’s programme promising to be bigger and better than ever, expect a month-long film extravaganza! 75,000 people attended last year, and with shows like a screening of BAFTA and Oscar award winner “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” starring Eddie Redmayne and Katherine Waterston, followed by “Kong: Skull Island” starring Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L Jackson and Brie Larson, kicking things off on Friday July 28th, it’s easy to see why it’s such an enormously popular event! Where else would you want to be, other than on one of the UK’s most famous beaches, enjoying a screening of a brilliant film with friends and family?
Following the opening screenings July 28th, festivities are officially launched on Saturday July 29th when super-star DJ, the legendary Gilles Peterson takes to the stage for a day-long music festival, along with music producer and DJ MC Earl Zinger and a whole host of bands and musicians – including Norman Cook’s AKA Fatboy Slim’s former band Freak Power who’ve reunited especially for the summer. Check out page 26 for more about this don’t-miss launch party!
Throughout the month during which this epic, 40-square metre cutting-edge LED screen will call Brighton beach its home, just a stone’s throw from Brighton’s famous Palace Pier, three carefully selected films will be shown each and every day.
xFood lovers are in for a special treat too, because on Sunday July 30th Brighton Big Screen Events will host one of the semi-finals of the British Street Food Awards! And to get the filmgoers taste buds tingling, four side-splitting movies will be screened: “Ratatouille”, “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”, “Willy Wonka” and “Chef”.
Following this, there’ll be nothing but movie madness until Saturday August 26, when there’ll be a live performance and Quadrophenia themed video show by Who’s Next; widely regarded as the #1 The Who tribute band (5pm) and a screening (8pm) of the iconic film and Brighton favourite “Quadrophenia”, followed by a very special live Q&A with stars of the film including leading man Phil Daniels, plus a DJ set from former member of The Specials, Drew Stanstall spinning the best in mod, ska, soul, r&b and 2tone.
Topping off a ram-packed movie month on Bank Holiday Monday, August 28, see showings of “Toy Story” and “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” – the proverbial cherry on the cake.
Managing Director of Brighton Big Screen Events and the man responsible for bringing this awesome attraction to Brighton, Bill Murray said: “We’re Europe’s largest outdoor cinema and we’re screening almost 100 classic films on Brighton’s famous beach. Anyone coming along is guaranteed an amazing time.”
