Seasoned Scot-rockers Frightened Rabbit finally get their big break with LP number four. The first with major label Atlantic, the mainstream treatment of their initially bare folk sound may be enough to turn away some die-hard fans, but its big choruses and lingering lyrical desperation give it wide appeal. Though not quite streamlined into Snow Patrol’s melodramatic indie rock, its stadium gestures do err into vigorous blandness, some repetitive melodies only heightening an otherwise individual record.
