Whilst she may not be everyone’s cup of tea, Jessie J certainly has a voice powerful enough to bring a building crumbling to the ground. The bold-faced blonde gave an earth-shattering performance at the Brighton Centre, allowing for every girl between the ages of 8 and 14 to stay up past their bed time and dance until they had to be carried home by a few disapproving fathers. Although in some cases it was the other way round. The singer belted out songs from recently released album “Alive” (with both “Thunder” and “Breathe” achieving standing ovations from audience members)  as well as bare faced ballads from her debut album “Who You Are”. “Do It Like A Dude” spurred a huge roar from the crowd, by which point many of the women had rid themselves of their shoes and began to prance barefoot in front of the stage. The show itself offered more glitz and glamour than a pompous party from the roaring twenties, with Jessie dressed head to toe in her Gatsby-esque garbs. Explosions of flames and fireworks to feast eyes on and confetti falling from the sky buried everyone in a sea of gold tape. A sugary selection of home videos were displayed on a giant screen during intervals, with a few would-be artsy clips of Jessie hammering home the valid point of “be happy with who you are”. All in all, the show made you want to tip your hat to the wild and wily singer in awe of her ear-splitting vocals and her credible attempt at making everyone feel just that little bit better the next time they take a look in the mirror.
