Brighton and Hove Speakers Festival
Sunday 11 October – The Old Market, Hove

A full day of the conversations everyone will be talking about – seven unmissable sessions, one extraordinary venue.

10.20am – Peter Kyle MP in conversation with Dr Fola Yahaya: AI: Threat, Tool or Transformation?
Is AI a threat, an opportunity, or both? Former Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology Peter Kyle joins AI expert Dr Fola Yahaya to cut through the hype with clarity and humour.

11.50am – Sam Freedman: Failed State
Why does nothing work in Britain? The Sunday Times bestselling author and former adviser to Michael Gove lays bare the systemic failures behind our broken state – described by Emily Maitlis as “funny, whipsmart and devastating.”

1.20pm – John Kampfner: Braver New World
Kampfner travelled to ten countries doing things better – from Taiwan’s health system to Vienna’s social housing – to ask whether Britain’s problems really are unsolvable. “Rattlingly readable… inspiring” (Financial Times).

2.50pm – Jeremy Hunt: Can We Be Rich Again?
The former Chancellor makes a frank, surprisingly optimistic case for Britain’s economic future, setting out an eight-point programme for renewal. “The road-map for our future prosperity” (The Telegraph).

4.20pm – Jeremy Corbyn: A Life in Politics
From four decades as a backbench MP to Labour leader to a landmark win as an independent, Corbyn reflects candidly on power, principle and public service – without script or spin.

5.50pm – Rachel Millward: From Film Festivals to Frontline Politics
Deputy Leader of the Green Party and co-leader of Wealden District Council, Millward shares her unconventional journey from the creative industries into local government leadership.

7.20pm – Jung Chang: Fly, Wild Swans
Author of the global phenomenon Wild Swans returns with the deeply anticipated follow-up – a Sunday Times bestseller and Book of the Year across the Times, Telegraph, FT and Waterstones – exploring family, memory and modern China.

Every session includes a live Q&A.

Come for one talk, several, or make a day of it – this is politics, ideas and storytelling from people who’ve shaped the conversation at the very highest levels.
