Sussex-based duo Sweet Loretta will celebrate the release of their debut album, You Had To Be There, with a special launch show at ALPHABET in Brighton on Saturday 25th July.

Made up of Quinn Humphreys and Fraser Blanchflower, Sweet Loretta have spent the past two years building a loyal following with their distinctive blend of timeless songwriting and modern production. Inspired by the golden era of 1970s and 1980s pop, soul and funk, the duo have crafted a sound that pays homage to their influences while remaining unmistakably their own.

Their music has already amassed more than 155,000 Spotify streams, received regular airplay on BBC Radio Surrey & Sussex, and taken them across Europe and the United States supporting acclaimed artist Kishi Bashi.

Released on Friday 24th July, You Had To Be There marks the band’s biggest milestone to date. The album showcases the warmth, melody and musicianship that have become hallmarks of Sweet Loretta’s sound, bringing together songs shaped by two years of writing, recording and performing. The album will be available to stream on all major digital platforms from its release day.

The following evening, on Saturday 25th July, fans will have the opportunity to hear the album performed live for the very first time during an intimate launch show at ALPHABET in Brighton. Alongside songs from the new record, the duo will also perform a selection of fan favourites.

Lead vocalist, Quinn Humphreys, shared: “We’re incredibly excited to finally share these songs and celebrate with everyone who’s supported us along the way. We can’t think of a better place to launch the record than Brighton, a city that has played such a huge part in our lives.”

This weekend marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for one of Sussex’s emerging independent acts.
