DEVOTION brings together a selection of Michelle Mildenhall’s work, alongside a number of new pieces, continuing her exploration of power, desire, and control.
Working in her distinctive graphic style, Mildenhall plays with the aesthetics of femininity, authority, and submission, where pleasure and discipline sit side by side, and nothing is entirely straightforward. The works are suggestive rather than explicit, inviting the viewer to read between the lines and consider what is implied as much as what is shown.
Set within the intimate, late-night atmosphere of Brighton Rock Bar, DEVOTION leans into themes of performance, presence, and quiet acts of submission and defiance.
Opening on Thursday 28 May from 7pm until late, the evening will also feature a Best Dressed contest—encouraging guests to step into the mood of the show.
The exhibition runs from 25 May to 6 June.
