Shockwaves NME Awards 2010 – Voting Opens!

Midday on Wednesday 9th December will see voting open for some of the most coveted and hotly contested awards in music – The Shockwaves NME Awards 2010.

Album and single sales are irrelevant as music fans get to have their say on who has really rocked over the last 12 months. The categories: Best British Band, Best International Band, Best Solo Artist, Best New Band, Best Live Band, Best Album, Best Track, Best Video, Best Festival, Best Live Event, Best TV Show, Best Film, Best Dancefloor Filler, Best DVD, Hero Of The Year, Villain Of The Year, Best Dressed, Worst Dressed, Worst Album, Worst Band, Sexiest Male, Sexiest Female, Best Website, Best Album Artwork and Best Band Blog – are guaranteed to create some heated debate. Expect the unexpected – voting is sure to throw up some surprises!

Nominees will be announced at The Tabernacle on 25th January 2010 with band of the moment, The Maccabees playing live. Anyone who votes in the awards can win tickets to be there and celebrate with the gritty, edgy and hottest acts just announced as nominees.

The winners will be announced at the Shockwaves NME Awards on 24th February 2010 at the iconic O2 Academy Brixton. The event will be packed with the who’s who of the music world, with performances from the biggest and best acts of the past 12 months. Due to the overwhelming demand for tickets this year NME has introduced a Glastonbury-style registration process to give all music fans an equal opportunity to attend the legendary event.
