Fucked Up have been crowned winners of the Polaris Prize, the Canadian equivalent of the Mercury Prize, for their album The Chemistry Of Common Life.

The contest featured 10 finalists including Metric, Hey Rosetta! and 2007’s winner Patrick Watson, with the hardcore-punk rockers coming out on top and scooping the $20,000 prize.

Fucked Up also announced news of a singles compilation which is due for an early 2010 release.  Titled ‘Couple Tracks:  Singles 2001 – 2009’, it will be released as a double CD and double LP.

Fucked up are playing in the U.K this December at the 10th Anniversary of All Tomorrow’s Parties, ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’, alongside My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, The Horrors and Primal Scream.
