London-based avant jazz quintet Polar Bear are about to release new album (Peepers, out March 1) – their second since 2005’s Mercury nominated Held On The Tips Of Fingers. Sometimes described as post-jazz, linking them to the post rock of Sigur Ros, Talk Talk and Radiohead, Polar Bear’s sound appeals as much to jazz traditionalists as to people who don’t normally do jazz like hip-hop and indie rock fans.  Held On The Tips Of Fingers got a place in The Guardian’s “1000 albums you must hear before you die”, so do not miss your chance to see them live.
Polar Bear are playing at The Old Market in Brighton on Friday 19 February, and tickets are still available for this show for £10 from theoldmarket.co.uk.
