Ellie Goulding was nominated by the BBC in the Sound Of 2010 longlist on Monday evening, and earlier today she was announced as the winner of the BRIT’s 2010 Critics Choice Award!!

This time last year, the BBC Sound Of… tipped big things to happen in 2009 for The Big Pink, The Temper Trap, White Lies, Masster Shortie, Kid Cuti, VV Brown, Empire Of The Sun, Florence And The Machine, La Roux, Lady Gaga, Frankmusik, Mumford & Sons, with Little Boots crowned the winner.

And to round off a perfect week, after Adele and Florence And The Machine, Ellie Goulding has become the third female solo artist in a row to win the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award. Delphic and Marina And The Diamonds were announced as the runners up. Goulding will perform at the Brit Awards nomination launch on 18 January and will pick up her award at the main ceremony on 16 February.

The hotly-tipped young singer/songwriter has attracted a huge amount of attention following the release of her debut single ‘Under The Sheets’ in November on indie label Neon Gold. The low key release led to an early appearance on Later With Jools Holland. Her first single on Polydor ‘Starry Eyed’ will be released on February 22nd with album to follow on March 1st. Ellie Goulding is heading out on her first headline tour in March, finally making it to Brighton’s Audio at the end of the tour on 16th April 2010.
