As part of The Great Escape, Duke Of York’s/ Excess Press/ The Space are hosting a very special event to mark 30 years since the death of Ian Curtis, the legendary front man of Joy Division. True Faith 1980 – 2010: Three Decades Of Music From Manchester will include a screening of Anton Corbin’s film Control and a panel of leading music and media figures associated with Manchester’s historic music scene. No British city has spawned so many influential and successful musicians, so as well as discussing the impact and influence of Ian Curtis and Joy Division, the panel will discuss Manchester’s key artists – Happy Mondays, Stone Roses, The Verve, Oasis, Elbow, James and The Smiths, and of course, many others.
The panel includes Joy Division and New Order drummer Stephen Morris, and photography legend Kevin Cummins, with more names to be announced soon. They both have great stories to tell – this is an opportunity not to be missed.
