You can’t call yourself a true music fan without at least being familiar with the life and work of a certain Mr Jimi Hendrix. You know, that guy who completely revolutionised the electric guitar back in the late sixties? The guitar legend changed the rules of rock & roll with his revolutionary flair and unique style, and his influence still echoes to this day.
One such example of Jimi’s continuing influence is in the current efforts of Benji Kirkpatrick, who has taken it upon himself to re-interpret the songs of the great master within the genre of folk music, stripping back the songs to their bare minimal forms, exposing the purest elements of Hendrix’s legacy.
The intriguing concept sees Kirkpatrick using bouzouki, banjo and mandolin in this unique performance, which is a must-see for both folk fans and Hendrix enthusiasts alike. Check the video below for a little taster.
