Joining the ever-increasing ranks of artists self-releasing their work, Bob Hillary has clearly taken full advantage of the freedom this has allowed him.  From the beginning this album is relaxed and at ease with itself, a proper album giving testament to the possibilities lent by retaining control of your musical output. The impact of many hands with different objectives when a signed act is producing an album can lead to dislocated sounds and strange song choices.  The opposite is true here, with every song lovingly crafted by true musicians with a focus – an album that feels organic and as a ‘whole’ is a pleasure to listen to.
With a similar vocal to Josh Ritter  or Damien Rice, no effects have been used on the vocal and none were needed. Musically there are many worldly influences and sounds from different genres of music but centrally this is a folk and roots album.  Production is tight, this is by no means an amateur release but that of a seasoned professional musician.  The overall vibe is one of positivity, reflected also in the lyrics.  The album title gives this away but it’s more about a genuine sense that those involved love what they’re doing –  it’s a party that everyone is invited to.
Listen to this to set the scene on a summers day BBQ with friends, or to keep you cheery whilst travelling.
Great to listen to from start to finish.
