AKA Sophie Hawes, it’s a great time to check out the Bristol-based producer, multi-instrumentalist, artist and songwriter who has just released “Superego” – the second single from this new Tru Thoughts signing. It’s a retro-tinged slow jam, offering a beautifully evocative intro to Slowe’s developed but versatile sound, as Slowe explains, “A quote I found said ‘superego is the part of a person’s mind or personality, that tells them how to behave based on learned morals and values’”- and the lyrics stemmed from this concept as Sophie explored the to-and-fro of ethics versus instincts.
Her debut release “WYLTK”, attracted brilliant support from the likes of Robert Elms (BBC Radio London), James Threlfall (BBC Introducing), Don Letts (BBC 6 Music), Laurent Garnier and Bill Brewster.
