Top Music Tips From Industry Taste-makers with 7pm Management – May 2014

Seven Webster & Claire Lloyd from music management company 7pm Management ask some of the music industry’s tastemakers which acts we should be cranking up and rocking out to this May. Here’s what they had to say….

Adam Lewis – Planetary Group Dwntwn My buzz band right now is DWNTWN. From Los Angeles. Their track: “Til Tomorrow” is a perfect floaty summer anthem filled with rich hooks .Jamie and Roberts vocals are the perfect compliment to each other and create an altogether brilliant listen reminiscent of acts i somewhere in the mould of Ellie Goulding and Crystal Castles. Im not sure what their live plan is like but if you get the chance check this band out asap. facebook.com/dwntwnmusic

Seven Webster – 7pm management Chemia  Following a great performance at the Hard Rock Café at last months Global Rock Summit in LA one act that shined above all the others was Polands Chemia . They have been described as Classic rock with a dash of post grunge along with great vocals from frontman Lukasz Drapala . After a brilliant performance in LA, I am sure they are a band that will be gracing the stages of Uk & other European festivals in the not so distant future and are definitely one to watch. Track to check – “The Bondage of Love”. chemiasound.com
Peter Rush – Radio DJ (Absolute Rock – Sweden) Go Go Berlin Danish quintet Go Go berlin are one of the more interesting bands out there at the moment. They fuse the sounds of Sixties bands like Love and Them with modern more Indie and Alternative acts to produce an interesting modern hybrid. If you want to see a great live act this band deliver on every level. Their singer /Guitarist Christian Vium is a future star and has a voice that will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. The band are appearing at a number of the bigger European summer festivals so if you get the chance definitely go and check them out. facebook.com/gogoberlin

Dave Downey – Manager ( Paul Geary Management LA ) Greek Fire The band I am most excited by at the moment is Greek Fire. With videos that are as powerful as the messages and content of their songs and music that rocks and connects on all levels. Watch their video for their song – If this is the end . A heartfelt message for anyone that knows anyone suffering from or with Cancer. Well worth watching and this bands other songs are equally as powerful. Check out the video -If this is the end. facebook.com/GreekFireMusic

Peter Christopherson – Music Manager & Promoter Ward Thomas Ward Thomas are 19-year old twins Catherine and Lizzie. Hailing from rural Hampshire but increasingly to be found in metropolitan Nashville where they recorded their debut EP ‘Footnotes’ due for release on April 7th. Before that they play on the pop-up stages at the London O2 Arena Country 2 Country event. Then it’s back to Nashville for more live and radio appearances with their self-penned contemporary sounding Country tunes. Read more at wardthomasmusic.com

Rod Kukla – A&R Mascot Records The Delta Saints The band I am enjoying most at the moment is Delta Saints. I recently saw them supporting Blackberry Smoke who also seem to be the talk of the town at the moment after crashing into the UK top 40. That said I saw Delta Saints rock the House of Blues two weeks ago and have since been to see them again a few more times .They have that certain something special about them aside from Blues Harp, rolling drums and an all round earthy live feel that is addictive and simply makes you want to go back for more. thedeltasaints.com

As May is the month of Brighton’s Great Escape Music Festival, here are some acts playing that you should try to see while they are in town – Bite the Buffalo , The Creases , Jeremy Neale , Kate Miller-Heidke , Augustines , Frank Hamilton and obviously Brighton’s own Royal Blood.
