The debut single from Brighton’s very own pop rock troubadour Ryan Burnett drips with kind of rock ‘n’ roll ambition and stadium-esque swagger that brings to mind a young Bruce Springsteen, the Gaslight Anthem and perhaps even a touch of Bryan Adams.
The first minute or so establishes Burnett’s inescapable vocal hooks, with empowering lyrics on summoning up strength before heading off to war (metaphorical or otherwise).
Poignant Rhodes lines and ambient backing vocals give a sense of an impending “fists in the air” moment, which, by the time the chorus hits, you’ve already succumbed to.
The track is of a lean, mean and undoubtedly radio-friendly mindset and serves as a statement of intent from a songwriting talent to be reckoned with.
Out now!
