Borde Hill Parkland
Borde Hill is a beautiful Grade II* English Heritage listed garden set in 200 acres of parkland with magnificent views in the High Weald. Created by Colonel Stephenson Robert Clarke from seeds gathered by the great plant hunters of the early 1900’s, it is renowned for its rare shrubs and trees.
The Garden is set out as distinctive living ‘rooms’, each with its own unique style, from secret, sub-tropical dells to the sophisticated Rose and Italian gardens. An abundance of spring-flowers gives way to exuberant summer borders of roses and herbaceous plants followed by mellow autumn colour. Nestled at the heart of the 35-acre garden and woodland is the Elizabethan Mansion House, which is open to pre-booked groups.
Events throughout the open season (25 March to 3 November 2019), include the 20th Anniversary Sculpture Exhibition, Rose Celebration Weeks, Open Air Opera, Horticultural Talks and Walks, plus family trails and activities during the school holidays. New for 2019: Adventure Playground located within the Garden.
The café, restaurant, picnic areas and easy access in the formal garden make Borde Hill the perfect place for everyone to enjoy a great day out. Dogs on leads are also welcome.
