Never Say Die Tour – Architects

Concorde 2, 30th October 2009

Nearly 5 hours before the headliners of the ‘Never Say Die’ tour took the stage, the Concorde 2 unleashed a number of support acts from across the pond. Circle pit upon circle pit, a foundation was made, and it was Architects who were left to finish things off.

Kicking the set off with the breathtaking ‘Hollow Crown’ opener ‘Early Grave’, the Brighton based band instantly created a reaction from the audience in front of them. Encouraging movement and participation from the 500+ metalcore fans, the five-piece were not let down. Charging through a number of songs from albums ‘Ruin’ and ‘Hollow Crown’, Architects created an incredible sense of energy on stage. Dedicating hard-hitting song ‘You’ll Find Safety’ to their parents, the local band ploughed through the dynamic track with crunching guitars and drums. Vocalist Sam Carter shun brightly throughout this track as he passionately sung, “I know it’s hard to look up when everything’s falling down on you” gaining the support of backing vocals supplied by every follower there.

Although Architects fabricated an intense atmosphere, it was their lack of time on stage that caused disappointed amongst the blood, sweat and tears. Ending their set on the 45-minute marker was never anything that the tattooed crowd wanted, yet it was the performance they delivered that the fans will walk away with in memory.

Closing the first night of their three-week tour, Architects performed their current single ‘Follow The water’ that built into the most climatic anthem of the evening. The band stormed through the 4-minute song with filthy guitars; solid bass lines and enough power behind the drums to blow the coastline venue apart. It was clear to see why Architects headlined the ‘Never Say Die’ tour; they were full of onstage chemistry, enthusiasm and continuous aggression behind their music. Whether you are fifteen or fifty, their audience was diverse; so relax, bring out the eyeliner and mosh until you pass out.
