The Foxes Live @ Pressure Point
Monday 11 February 2008
Monday nights are always a little bit tricky, aren’t they? Your tired brain tells you to stay in and watch TV but really, deep down, all you want is go out again – weekends are just too short! Our XYZ reporter LÉo ditched the TV a long time ago so we sent her and our photographer Sam to Pressure Point to check out The Foxes play live.
Although the Foxes have been touring the country with Yeti for the past month non-stop, they were all smile and joking around at the venue entrance when we got there. All dressed up in their usual retro cream jackets and black trousers, they started playing to a room half full around 21.30.
Their happy energetic rock is very contagious and their lyrics can only make you laugh (my favourite is “Cheeky Cow”)! The room filled up a little bit throughout their set but as Nigel (lead singer) told me at the end “it’s difficult to please the Brighton crowd! People have been jumping and dancing in other cities but here they have their arms folded”. Still, the atmosphere was good and the Foxes delivered. Even with a bad cold and a slightly confused sound engineer, The Foxes gave their best and I loved it! You can tell they’re clearly enjoying themselves and we all walked out with a big smile on our face. Not bad for a Monday night!
If you missed out don’t worry it’s not the last we’ve heard of them. Keep an eye on their myspace to find out when they’re playing down next and come down for a boogie!
