It’s a brand new underground party space! Louis’s Café has been decked out in the classic disco style, a signature disco ball glittering over glamorous red drapes and funky projections. With a true party spirit and non-conformist approach, tonight had all the characteristics of a genuine house party.

Inspired by a recent disco resurgence, DJ AFFY, DJ GUSTAV (aka HEAVY DISCO), and DJ ALI BROADCAST triumphed with a sell-out private party. The atmosphere was buzzing; worlds apart from the seafront and West Street’s renowned club scene. By midnight, the club was packed out and there wasn’t a soul in the place who wasn’t groovin’.

This new movement is about mentality, as DJ ALI BROADCAST told XYZ. “The most important thing about the night is sociability. It’s about people connecting.” DJ GUSTAV went on to describe it “like the resurgence of having a good time! A rebellion against current clubbing… giving room to people who used to enjoy clubbing ages ago, who have almost been pushed out.”

This isn’t a profit-making organisation; it’s about holding on to root values and creating a really good atmosphere. I reckon people have lost the point about clubbing; it’s not all about going out and getting wasted, it’s also about taking something away from the evening, a memorable experience. Unfortunately, my memorable experience was being told by a distinctive looking forty-something patron that everyone in the place was “…fucking ugly, especially you.” Looks like not everyone shares Broadcast’s dream of a haven of respect, sociability and connectedness.
Anyhow, this party was advertised on Facebook and sold out in just over a week. With a ‘first come first served’ system, you need to get in there quick! Held during May, GO BANG!!! BRIGHTON 2008 is an event which brings together like-minded people from across the South Coast for a month of music-based gatherings in Brighton combining underground disco, Balearic, electro funk and house-orientated music and character-heavy bars and basement venues.
