UpstArt Brighton is taking over Dynamite Gallery on Brighton’s Trafalgar Street from 3 to 31 December to provide eco-conscious Christmas shoppers with a greener alternative.

Local artists Ann Blackburn (aka Papier Maverick), Francesca Garlake and Hayley De Marcas (aka Artshed Brighton) have joined forces to provide customers with a unique range of products and local creatives with prime retail space at the busiest time of the year.

Around 30 artists and makers will join the gallery and shoppers can buy items including fine art, jewellery, cards, scarves, tableware, hand carved spoons, textile art, papier mache figures, mobiles, mosaics and more.

Booking has also opened for a programme of 17 workshops where people can make gifts and get creative themselves. Workshops include spoon carving, weaving from ghost nets, mindful collage, ring making, handmade books and creative writing. For the full programme, see http://upstartbrighton.eventbrite.com.

“This isn’t the usual shopping experience” says Ann of UpstArt Brighton. “There’ll be a relaxed environment and customers will be able to find out about the creatives who made the items they want to buy and the environmental journey of the products. We’re asking people to shop differently this Christmas.”

There will also be a raffle for customers to raise funds for two local beach cleaning projects, BHASS Explore and Leave No Trace. UpstArt Christmas Gallery & Shop is open from 10am to 5pm 3-31 December 2021 (closed 25^th and 26^th) at Dynamite Gallery, 13 Trafalgar Street, Brighton BN1 4EQ.
