This screening will feature a selection of Harvey Matusow’s experimental films, alongside footage of his court hearing in the 1950s, held by University of Sussex and Screen Archive South East. Matusow’s storied and complicated life as a Communist-turned-McCarthyist-turned- avant-garde-artist is almost too strange to be true. These films provide insight into a sliver of what Matusow got up to after fleeing America for Sussex, and how he sought again and again to set his story straight.
The screening will feature an original score from musicians Sam Yardley and Dan Hutchins (of Porridge Radio).
Please note there will be a £2 fee for the car park.
