A Musical Journey: “Salt” by Half Moon Run
Half Moon Run is a band known for their mesmerizing blend of beauty and sadness, harmony and menace, despair and groove. With “Salt,” they push the boundaries of their musical chemistry, revisiting their origins while reaching into the future. The album explores the anxieties of our times, hinting at a budding sentiment of hope amidst the chaos.
Producer Connor Seidel played a crucial role in breathing life into these ideas. Much of “Salt” was created at Seidel’s Treehouse Studio, allowing the band’s musical sketches to evolve and take form. The result is a raw and elemental album that captures the essence of Half Moon Run.

Since their last album, “A Blemish in the Great Light,” Half Moon Run has released two EPs and a collection of reworked “isolation versions” of older songs. They’ve also earned prestigious Juno Awards for ‘Adult Alternative Album of the Year’ in 2020 and 2022. The band’s founding trio, Devon Portielje, Conner Molander, and Dylan Phillips, continue to forge forward, even after the departure of multi-instrumentalist Isaac Symonds in 2020.
