Part 2 of this course, culminates in a performance showcase for friends and family at the Lantern Theatre in Brighton.
The basis of much longform improvisation, the ‘Harold’ is a 20-30 minute improvisation format composed of scenes and ‘games’ created fresh each time it is played. With its distinctive three-part structure, it gives a sense of coherence and unity to a show, but it is also flexible enough to change with the team, the night and content. In this course in particular, we will use musical improvisation to teach the Harold, so no previous knowledge of the Harold is necessary. However, this course is also suitable for players who do know the format and want to enrich its joys with music.
Syllabus Includes:
- Musical openings and group games
- Creating a musical language and world without telling a linear story
- Using real-life monologues and conversations for lyrical content
- Following Harold beats with thematic song choices

If we have to cancel the event due to low numbers, we will do this with 24 hours notice (and you will receive a warning 48 hours before the course if this looks likely).
When: Wednesday nights for 6-weeks, from 8th March to 5th April, 7-9.30 pm each week, and culminating in a performance showcase for friends and family on week 6, Wednesday 12th April , show from 7.30 pm, Lantern Theatre in Brighton.

This course has two Maydays facilitators and so is slightly higher in cost than our other 2.5-hour 6-week courses.
