“Bringing the best in new music direct to your doorstep”, the Shockwaves NME Awards Tour is gearing up for 14-date tour in February 2010. The tour has always been a fizzingly fertile breeding ground for breaking the best new talent with the likes of Ting Tings, Klaxons, Arctic Monkeys, The Cribs, Bloc Party, and The Killers (to name a few!) having graced previous rosters. As a new decade dawns, NME is once again proud to present four of the most hotly tipped bands for the Shockwaves NME Awards Tour 2010…

The Maccabees: a firm favourite on the festival circuit (The Observer even dubbing them “festival heroes”), the hotly tipped art-rockers are one of the best home-grown indie rock bands to emerge in the UK. Currently enjoying the success of second album ‘Walls of Arms’, The Maccabees headline the Shockwaves NME Awards Tour 2010. themaccabees.co.uk

Bombay Bicycle Club: 2009 has been a busy year for Bombay Bicycle Club.  After releasing debut album ‘I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose’, they played a spellbinding set at Glastonbury and supported The Pixies, and are now set to bring their unique ‘folky-punk’ to audiences across the UK as part of the Shockwaves NME Awards Tour. thebombaybicycleclub.co.uk

The Big Pink: the electric rock duo, Milo Cordell and Robbie Furze, have already won the prestigious NME Philip Hall Radar Award for best new act and have just released their debut album, ‘A Brief History Of Love’ to rave reviews.

The Drums: grabbing the opening slot (once filled by Kaiser Chiefs, Coldplay and Franz Ferdinand!), and often seen as the most coveted are ‘modern 50s surf rockers’ The Drums.  The New York based band recently played their first ever UK show to a packed and highly excitable crowd in London and are set to release their new single ‘I Felt Stupid’ in December. The Drums are an exciting final addition to the Shockwaves NME Awards Tour 2010 line-up. wearethedrums.com

The tour kicks of in Newcastle on February 4th and makes it way down south to the Brighton Dome for 15th February 2010.

Tickets are available now exclusively from the NME website, and are on general release from 9am, Friday 13th November 2009, for £15.58 (includes VAT+50p donation to charity) from gigsandtours.com / 0871 2200 260.
