My Generation is a new annual event launching this September celebrating modernist music and culture. Brighton and Mod already have a strong relationship, with regular scooter meets on Madeira Drive and (of course) the cult film Quadrophenia, and, curated by the DJ Eddie Piller, My Generation will be a permanent fixture every year.
2011 will see a multi-venue, multi-genre festival featuring bands, DJs, outdoor cinema, photographic exhibitions along with lots of other extras!
Until then… the very first My Generation will be on September 25 at Concorde 2 with bands and DJs playing all that go into Mod – jazz, rhythm and blues, soul, northern soul, mod revival, Britpop, freakbeat, psyche, funk and indie etc etc.
Steve Cradock (Ocean Colour Scene front man and Paul Weller’s right hand man) will headline the Saturday night with his first public performance as a solo artist, alongside rock ‘n’ roll legend Mani (Primal Scream, Stone Roses).
Also appearing are The Moons, Andy Lewis, photographer Dean Chalkley, Eddie Piller, Dean Rudland and Si Cheeba, with Hipshaker DJs along and Brighton jazz legend Rob Luis (Tru Thoughts) in the second room.
