Rarely does a band manage to marry musical virtuosity with pop sensibility. Chicago’s hottest four-piece, however, have managed to do just that. Maps & Atlases are best described by NME; that they write “super complex songs [that] sound like Vampire Weekend after a math-rock makeover”.
Having just signed to FatCat they are set to release their debut album, “Perch Patchwork” on September 27 and have a tour booked for October. (Assuming it’s still open), you can check them out at Brighton’s Freebutt on October 8.
