“Furballs” is FatCat Records’ great new night at the Freebutt. From 22 September, bands from the label’s brilliantly diverse roster, and beyond, will be playing, starting with the great French popsters Get Back Guinozzi!, who featured in this week’s ‘ten tracks you have to hear this week’ section in NME. They’ll be supported by the Balky Mule.
Get Back Guinozzi!
Furballs is scheduled as a bi-monthly night, with the second event on 7 November, when Foot Village will be headlining. This being FatCat, it’s all about keeping the music interesting and fresh and is very much a friendly social event aimed at the music rather than the money making. Since they’re all round great folks, they’ll also be dishing out FatCat samplers at the venue.
After nine years in Brighton, FatCat have carved themselves a reputation for unearthing and developing some of the finest alternative bands around, from Animal collective to the Twilight Sad and Sigur Ros to Frightened Rabbit. This should be a brilliant showcase for one of the city’s most enduring music labels.
