Battlejam; the format is simple. Every month, a guest musician from the vast pool of Brighton talent joins 2006 and 2007 UK beatbox champion Beardyman and 2007 UK DMC Champion JFB for a marathon four hour jam which involves live sampling of guest musician and “beatbox-vocalnutter” Beardyman by the excessively sick scratch-technician JFB. It’s all live; manipulated before your very ears. No-one knows what’s going to happen until it does – not even the performers themselves!
This month sees Stevies Wonder Glasses guesting. This collective combine turntablism, improvised drums, freestyle rap and soulful mash up vocals – covering hip-hop, funk, soul, drum’n’bass and more. Their show also incorporates the Klumzy Word Generator. The crowd to input words into the ‘Word Generator’, the words are then projected on to a wall for Klumzy Tung to produce random word freestyle songs while the band produces the music.
