Sound clash godfather David Rodigan MBE brings his legendary Ram Jam to Concorde2 – expect Reggae selection of the highest degree.
David ‘Ram Jam’ Rodigan has been there since the beginning. As a schoolboy he was hooked by early 60s ska, was DJing reggae in his lunch break by the age of 15, and broadcasting on Capitol by ’78 – a radio career that he’s sustained since and won him an MBE for services in broadcasting this year. Recognised not just in the UK, Rodigan earned his stripes in the Reggae homeland long ago, taking on the top dogs in reggae sound system culture in Jamaica and coming up trumps. He’s since won the ultimate World Clash Reset trophy, and this year had a golden victory lap with the MBE complemented by ‘Specialist Music Broadcaster of the Year’ at Radio 2.
Ram Jam brings this Reggae statesman to Brighton for the first time in a year, promising a masterclass in selection, his sets often accompanied by frequent giddy hype from the man himself, as well as some nuggets of Reggae history for the new generation of fans.
Support comes from Dub Phizix & Strategy, purveyors of Manchester drum’n’bass anthem ‘Marka’, in what will be a bouncing clash of dub sounds new and old.
