Club Review – New Funfair Venue Launch

News of a brand new venue on Brighton seafront is always bound to cause a bit of a stir between seasoned club-goers and bar hoppers. Funfair is a new and exciting venue with a promise of all of the fun of the fair in a unique nightlife experience.
On arrival at somewhat of an understated entrance, we were cordially escorted through a red velvet curtain to a basement lair the likes of which is unique to the Brighton scene. Inside, a plethora of fancies such as the Punch and Judy DJ booth and a chequered dance floor on which a group of sassy ladies were already throwing shapes, Victorian style bar complete with cocktail fountain, setting out Funfair very clearly as it’s very own brand of Brighton nightlife.
Add into the mix a ball pit – yes, the kind you used to love rolling around in as a toddling whippersnapper – (party animals dive in headfirst as the evening progresses) and for the more reserved among us, plenty of room to park your behind and chat, including a luxurious Chesterfield sofa and a recessed seating area if your feet get tired.
The night was soon in full-swing – the DJ spinning inoffensive Pop and Rock tunage, a sword swallower keeping the crowd entertained whilst glamorous ladies dealt out Hors d’oeuvre in the form of novelty candy floss and fresh sushi from Moshi Moshi. There was even a fortune teller reading tea leaves from the ‘Vault of broken dreams’. How many clubs can claim to have their very own clairvoyant?!
With so much on offer at this intimate yet well thought out venue, although it’s too small to fit an actual funfair into, it’s the next best thing. Check out upcoming events at Funfair at funfairclub.com
