Detroit techno legend, genre polymath and sonic innovator Carl Craig poises to return to Brighton for the first time in two years for a headline slot at Life.
Renowned for his ubiquitous impact on electronic music extending well beyond the Detroit scene, the techno futurist has injected jazz influences into his productions for decades – most notably on his work as Innerzone Orchestra, famously a touchstone influence on the development of drum’n’bass. He can also count as achievements a grammy nomination, the co-founding of the Planet-E imprint (recently twenty years old) and numerous remixes for artists from Hot Chip to U.N.K.L.E.
With such long-standing diversity and prominence across so many scenes, Carl Craig looks to treat the main room to a characteristically eclectic and masterful set.
Life itself only recently celebrated its third birthday, playing host to similarly erudite Detroit titan Theo Parrish. Having earned it’s techno stripes, showing it’s elaborate interior more than worthy of holding its own alongside eminent DJs, the club is sure to deliver a suitably long and varied party.
Support comes in the welcome form of Brighton DJs Lorca and Leon Vynehall, promising a heady cocktail of languid two-step and juke-heavy house respectively.
11pm – late, £8 adv + £1 booking fee.
