About The Show:

The Show
Jamie Leeming and Gabriele Pribetti – Wednesday 22nd February 2023, 8pm.

One year on from their triumphant Festival Weekender, New Generation Jazz is back at the Ropetackle Arts Centre with the Festival Roadshow! Taking place across three Wednesday nights in February, it’s our chance to see six of the most exciting up-and-coming artists on the UK jazz scene. Each night includes a pair of double headline acts in the auditorium, plus free events in the foyer brought to you by the Jazz Futures  educational programme.

Jamie Leeming

His curiosity has always been a key part of his ever-evolving relationship with music, as a teenager captivated by the cover of Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew in a local HMV, or with his fascination with how we experience memories – the latter of playing a central role in his debut solo album “Resynthesis”. His curiosity for music compelled him, eventually leading to Leeming becoming one of the most sought-after young jazz guitarists in London. His unique style finds him regularly amongst the likes of Alfa Mist, Tom Misch and Jas Kayser (who appears on drums across much of “Resynthesis”).

Gabriele Pribetti

Both international sax man and sideman to the stars – Pribetti possesses a thrillingly physical take on beats and improvisation. With a percussive approach to his instrument and his writing, Gabriele’s music combines a love for jazz and improvisation with a classical upbringing, leaving large spaces for improvisation. He’s played with Stormzy, Wizkid, Bob Geldof, Jordan Rakei, Daymé Arocena, Imelda May, Kamaal Williams, Mostack, Tiana Major9, Stefflon Don, and General Levy to name but a few, but his own sound reflects his love of jazz and commitment to groove and free expression.

There will be pre-show live music in the foyer from 7-8pm.

About The Ropetackle Arts Centre

Situated on the banks of the River Adur in Shoreham-by-Sea, Ropetackle Arts Centre is a multi-award winning, purpose-built venue presenting some of the biggest and best performing arts events in the UK.

Their friendly atmosphere, quality programme, and intimate performance space combine to make every event a memorable one. From live music to comedy, family theatre to film, workshops to literary events – and all things in-between – they have something to suit all tastes and budgets.

A registered charity run by a small team of professionals supported by 80+ volunteers, Ropetackle is an arts and entertainment hub at the heart of the community. They work with a range of local and national organisations to bring the widest range of arts activities to as many people as possible.

They believe the arts are important for everyone: for children, whose imaginations and language skills are developing, for adults who want to be uplifted and inspired, and of course, for artists and performers who bring so much talent to each show.

They have a superbly equipped auditorium seating up to 200, or 350 standing. They have a multi-purpose mezzanine space for classes and activities, plus a large, light and airy foyer and café, alongside two well-stocked bars.
