This twosome out of Paris, Emirati-Egyptian singer and songwriter Mayah Alkhateri and producer Salvador Navarrete (aka Sega Bodega), have their debut album “KHAZNA”, out via Ambient Tweets.
You may have heard one of the string of much-lauded singles they’ve dropped over the last couple of years, or their EP, blending shoegaze and indie rock with the Arabic cultural influences of Mayah’s heritage into a unique mix, seeking to challenge ideas about identity, creativity and freedom.
The pair use sound, image, and performance in a practice rooted in spiritual enquiry, drawing on themes of psychic perception, ritual protection, intimacy and the afterlife as a force of future destiny.
