The Volks Electric Railway will be shut until Autumn 2017 as a result of delays in the restoration that have been ongoing since late last year.
The cause of the delay is due to an old underground gas pipe that was unearthed during demotion proceedings. Specialists from the Southern Gas Network are now working with the restoration team to safely remove the pipe and keep the site safe.
However the Heritage Lottery Fund are confident that the £1.65 million restoration project will be completed in time for people to enjoy this Autumn.
