Roddy started his career in the late ’90s/early 2000s as the frontman for Scottish rock band Idlewild. The band released five albums, gradually shifting from a grungy, punk-rooted sound to folk-influenced rock. Inspired by that change, the singer decided to take time out from the band to pursue his love of traditional Scottish folk. After channelling this passion and energy in to something new, soon came his 2006 solo debut, “My Secret Is My Silence”, which topped the UK folk charts.
