Chicago-based singer-songwriter Daniel Knox visits Brighton this month, inviting listeners to soak up his darkly sentimental americana in the cosy setting of the Greys pub, Southover Street.
Singing songs on time travel and abandoned shopping centres; inspired by his time growing up in a slowly fading middle America, Knox’s distinctive baritone and achingly beautiful piano playing bring to mind a less ironic John Grant layered with bursts of cinematic brass and string orchestration.
Check out the video to the haunting single “Ghost” here.
Support on the evening comes the excellent Brighton-based alt-folk quartet Twenty-One Crows.
