Tomorrow Nov 1 at patterns check out a show from American rapper, performance artist, poet & activist ‘Mykki Blanco’.
Promising to be an unpredictable night with an artist with creativity etched into his fabric; this Californian has certainly had a colourful life!
The one-time IT, one-time psychic launched performance collective Paint In Consciousness Experimental Theater at just 15 years old, winning an Indies Spirit Award, and at 16 he ran away, ending up in New York City.
Over the years he spent time in New York, with a brief stint at Parsons School of Design, California, and Chicago where he won a full scholarship to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, which he subsequently dropped out of.
A published poet, Michael David Quattlebaum Jr (what a name!) – wrote “From the Silence of Duchamp to the Noise of Boys” (2011), before finally making his debut with Mykki Blanco and the Mutant Angels in 2012.
‘Mykki Blanco’ had started life as a character for a YouTube video a couple of years before, and Quattlebaum’s chosen stage name was inspired by Lil’ Kim’s alter ego Kimmy Blanco.
Check out this show! Get your tickets here now online £9 + bf, entry 18+ only. 7:30 PM – 10:30 pm.
