Wolf Alice “Moaning Lisa Smile”, EP
OK, wow! This EP opens with a deceptively subtle acoustic guitar that sounds as if it were recorded on a dusty, old four-track tape deck, but immediately those cobwebs are blown away with a smash of guitars that genuinely take you by surprise. Before long, you’re swept away in a sea of ethereal My Bloody Valentine-esque grandeur. “Storms” is awash with the same hard-hitting production that Trent Reznor himself would be proud of. All in all, a blistering sophomore E.P that pretty much has it all.
