Kevin Barnes’ noise machine has seen many members come and go over the years, with numerous honorary bandmates passing through the eye of the storm since their inception back in 1997. Like many indie art-pop bands of the ilk, their competent grasp of pop/rock formulae fused with an often twee delivery make for an undeniably colourful blend. But their eclectic palette can only stretch so far before you realise this is a repetitive succession of incomprehensible ramblings over the same jangly guitar chords.
