Charli XCX “Sucker” – LP, out now
Charli XCX was quietly bubbling away on the Great Escape Festival’s ‘Ones To Watch’ list for a couple of years before the blog-hype suddenly went stratospheric (for no apparent reason other than it was bored) and everyone started championing her. Cue the collaborations with other barely-established acts and numerous delayed releases that only served to fuel the fire. Does anybody remember Republica? Well, they did this ironic cutesy pop-rock way better with songs people still remember. This is musical Hubba Bubba.
