Essex’s answer to Billy Bragg returns with a slice of folk-infused social commentary with a refreshing departure from his usual three-chord guitar format.
Instead, Beans (aka Jay McAllister) presents an LP of sampled beats and laptop minimalism. The result? An eclectic mix of dancehall rhythms, uplifting brass lines and piano ballads blended with on-point poetry designed to make you laugh, cry and think in equal measure.
It won’t change the world, but hopefully it’ll change some perspectives.
