Catch Ragga Metal Four-Piece Skindred at Concorde2, Thursday September 18th

Heading to town as part of ‘The Detour’, a series of UK headline dates, ragga metal four-piece Skindred bring their unique mix of metal, punk and reggae back to Brighton, along with a stagecraft honed over more than three decades in music, across different acts!

Formed in Newport, Wales back in 1999, after vocalist Benji Webbe’s previous band disbanded, Skindred dropped their debut album “Babylon” in July 2002, with on and off success within the European and U.S. metal underground scenes. Shortly after, Jeff Rose and Martin Ford amicably left the band, and guitarist Mikey Demus, bassist Daniel Pugsley and drummer Dirty Arya picked up the mantle to continue on with frontman and vocalist Benji Webbe.

Skindred re-released “Babylon” in August 2004 on the Lava imprint, with different cover art and some newly recorded material, before hitting the road for a series of tours with acts like Sevendust, Nonpoint and Papa Roach – the album took off and they never looked back!

Nearly 20 years after their first album, the band signed a new global record deal with Earache Records, with their 8th album “Smile” (2023) fighting a close chart race for the ‘UK Number 1 Album’ spot, with phenomenal support from the rock and metal communities, and messages of support from Metallica, Rage Against The Machine and Disturbed, as well as Kerrang!, NME and Louder.

They bagged the ‘Number 2’ spot in the end, a huge career win for the band, alongside a run of other huge charting successes, like ‘Number 1 in the UK Rock and Metal Album Chart’, ‘Number 1 UK Indepen- -dent Album’ and ‘Number 1 US Alternative New Artist Album’.

The same year, they announced their biggest ever headline show would take place at Wembley Arena in 2024, selling out multiple shows for their 2023 “Smile” headline tour, bagging Best UK Live Act at the Heavy Music Awards 2023, the Best Alternative Music Act Award at the MOBOs, and featuring as cover stars on Kerrang! magazine for the first time!

See them live on stage in Brighton this month at Concorde2!
