Born Bad, which holds regular nights at Komedia in the North Laine, has grown rapidly in popularity since its humble beginnings, which is largely due to the fact that it is such an original Brighton club night. The night is billed to include ā50s rock ānā roll, rockabilly, punk, swing, exotic bop and jive and blues, to name just a few of the sounds on offer. The Guardian even heralded it as āBrightonās best nightā.
Komedia describes Born Bad as āa wild and sexy night of delinquent rhythmsā, and the music did exactly what it said on the tin. The rock ānā roll tunes were the heaviest feature of the night, interweaved with equally upbeat tracks from the other promised genres. By the peak of the night, all the seats to side of the room emptied as everyone piled to the dance floor, a sure-fire sign that the DJs knew what they were doing.
Clearly passionate about what they were playing, they all had the skill to keep the mood of the crowd up and bouncy. There was a constant stream of people flooding in all night, and it wasnāt long before the club was full to capacity, with half the revellers jiving on the dance floor and the rest huddled round the tables at the back of the room.
Born Bad is an exciting night with fun music and an excellent atmosphere to match. Donāt forget your red lippy and Capri pants…
