XYZ‘s Mo Mostowfi calls up The Whip frontman Bruce Carter to ask him bog standard interview questions…
XYZ: Your debut album ‘X Marks Destination’ was recently released. Now the touring starts: What’s the best and worst thing about it?
Bruce Carter: The best thing is to travel and see new places and meeting new people. I guess the worst thing about being on tour is that it’s bad for your health and missing your friends.
The Whip are playing The Great Escape ’08. What’s the best escape experience you’ve had?
Being in a band is an escape. An escape from dead end jobs and the wrath of 9 to 5!
Give XYZ your favourite joke.
I’m terrible with jokes. I like laughing at them. Hot Dog [The Whip’s bassist] is the joker in the pack.
Name five things that you think are passé.
No! [laughs] I hate slagging things off. I guess if I had to choose one thing it’d be cheese and ham sandwiches. When you go to Europe it’s all you get. I’ll leave it at that! [laughs]
Do all Northerners think Southerners are fairies?
No way man! That’s whole North versus South rivalry is a load of rubbish! We’re not into it! We’re friends with everyone!
